Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles

Complex underwater remotely-operated vehicles (ROVs) are increasingly popular. In order to maximise the effectiveness of such vehicles, operators require multi-axis hand controllers with an unusual level of reliability.

Solution

Daco's DP174-1, designed for an American customer, consists of a 3-axis displacement joystick base fitted with a grip containing two miniature force-operated joysticks, one 4-way trimmer switch and a rocking trigger switch. In total, it provides 10 axes of control.

Although the DP174-1 is, strictly speaking, a custom-built hand controller, it uses a very high number of modular components. In fact, if the colour of the paint on the handle was Daco’s standard grey instead of black the delivery time for this product would be just 4-6 weeks.
