Weapon Fire Control

When it comes to hand controllers for weapon fire control applications, reliability, survivability and usability are paramount; if considered properly, these provide cost effectiveness over the longer term. These issues were crucial when Daco won an order for 100+ control grips to be used on ground-based air defence systems. The grips obviously had to be rugged, but in "normal" use they also had to be completely sealed against water.

Solution

The DG102-3 was designed to meet these criteria. The one-piece aluminium grip contained a sealed miniature force-operated joystick and three push buttons protected by rubber covers. The smooth surface of the casting prevented retention of unwanted substances, and the paint finish was tested for its resistance to a number of corrosive fluids. An integral 'O' ring was also fitted to provide sealing to the mounting panel.
